Whoever said adults are too old for coloring, clearly hasn’t tried coloring in a while. Adult coloring books are all the rage right now. You can’t walk into a book or craft store, without seeing tons of different coloring books for people of all ages. Plus, adult coloring books are said to be “very relaxing.” Check out this CNN article for more information.
I never thought the craze was true. I mean, with my anxiety, I didn’t think something as easy as coloring could be beneficial to my mental health. But boy was I wrong.
I picked up my first coloring book at Barnes and Noble a few months ago. It was Disney Princess, and I LOVE Disney Princesses. So I figured I would give it a shot.
My life changed the very first time I opened my book and started coloring. Not only was it fun, it helped me focus on one specific task, and it actually shut my mind off of other things. For once, I was enjoying “me time” without feeling anxious or guilty.
So my #AnxietyTipThursday is to pick up a coloring book& just color. I try and spend about 15 minutes a day coloring. But you can take as much or as little time as you want. Coloring is just a fun way to express yourself while clearing your mind. I always feel so relaxed afterwards, even if that relaxed state only lasts for a little while.
So I hope you remember that you’re not too old to color! And you don’t even have to color in an adult coloring book! I hope everyone gives this a try! Let me know in the comments below if you’ve tried coloring& how it’s worked for you!
Until next time!
